The ZY-YS01 PRO is a professional-grade, IP network camera built for one main purpose: to accurately read license plates in various conditions (day, night, high speed).

It is not a general-purpose surveillance camera for overview shots or identifying people. Its strength is capturing a highly specific, narrow field of view to get a crisp, clear image of a license plate.

    Here are the typical features that define this camera:


    High-Resolution Sensor & Lens: Usually features a 2MP (1080p) or higher progressive scan CMOS sensor. The key is the varifocal lens (e.g., 5.7-11mm), which allows you to adjust the focal length to zoom in precisely on the lane where cars will pass, ensuring the plate fills the image.


    Powerful IR Illuminators: Equipped with strong infrared (IR) LEDs. This allows the camera to capture clear black-and-white images of plates at night without causing glare or reflection that would wash out the plate numbers. The IR range is often substantial (e.g., up to 30 meters).

    Specialized LPR Software

    The camera has built-in algorithms (on-camera edge computing) to automatically:

    Detect a vehicle.

    Capture an image.

    Locate the license plate within the image.

    Perform character segmentation (isolating each letter/number).


    OCR (Optical Character Recognition): Translate the image of the plate into digital text data (e.g., "ABC123").


    WDR (Wide Dynamic Range): Essential for handling challenging lighting conditions, such as when a car is driving from a dark area into a brightly lit entrance, or during sunrise/sunset. WDR helps balance the light to prevent the plate from being overexposed or underexposed.

    Specialized LPR Software

     Robust Housing: Typically rated at IP67, meaning it is completely protected against dust and can withstand being submerged in water temporarily. This makes it suitable for outdoor use in all weather conditions.


    Data Output: The camera outputs both a full vehicle image and the text data of the recognized plate. This data can be sent via various methods:


    ONVIF Compatibility: Allows it to integrate with standard NVRs (Network Video Recorders) and VMS (Video Management Software) for recording.


    HTTP API / SDK: Developers can use this to integrate the LPR data directly into custom software applications (e.g., parking management systems, security gate automation).


    FTP/Email: Can be configured to send plate snapshots and data to an FTP server or email address upon trigger.

     Parking Lot Access Control: Automatically raise a barrier arm for authorized vehicles (white list) or tenants.


    Automatic Tolling & Gated Communities: Charge residents or visitors based on vehicle entry/exit.


    Drive-Through Businesses: For analytics, security, or linking a vehicle to an order.


    Traffic Law Enforcement: Capturing speeding vehicles or those running red lights (when integrated with radar and trigger systems).


    Gas Stations & Car Washes: For pay-by-plate systems or access control.

    How to Set It Up for Best Results

    Proper installation is critical for this type of camera to work effectively.


    Positioning: Mount the camera at a height of about 1.5 to 2 meters (5-6.5 feet) from the ground.


    Angle: The ideal angle between the camera and the lane is typically between 15° and 30°. Avoid extreme angles.


    Focusing: Use the varifocal lens to zoom in tightly on the specific spot where a vehicle's license plate will be (e.g., the stopping point at a gate). The plate should fill a significant portion of the image.


    Lighting: Ensure the camera's IR illuminators are directed at the target area. Avoid pointing it at highly reflective surfaces. At night, the camera's IR should be the primary light source hitting the plate to avoid glare from headlights.

    Configuration

    You must access the camera's web interface (usually by finding its IP address on your network) to:


     Set the correct time zone and time.


    Draw a detection zone (a virtual line or area in the image where the camera will look for plates).


    Adjust LPR settings like recognition sensitivity.


    Input your whitelist (authorized plates).


    Set up how you want the data output (e.g., to an NVR, via FTP, to a software platform).
